bought my boyfriends valentines card today, just makes me even more sure that going into the greeting card/wrapping 'industry' is what i want to do. when i have time from my fred aldous project i'm going to start working on some ideas.
i went to a talk this evening, given by a textile designer called donna wilson. she makes little creatures and they're dead cute.
however, the main part of the talk which had my 100% attention, was from the company tiger print, they’re a design company whose main focal client is marks and spencers. tigerprint create m&s’ cards, gift wrapping, stationary etc. i was blown away. I WANT TO WORK FOR THEM, NOW. i spoke to the lady, janine burrows and asked about summer placements, she said they took people on, but they got 1000s of applications (wahhhhh) but it has made me realise what i actually want to try and achieve. i’d love to do into the greeting card industry. i’m determined, this just means i actually need to start doing things outside of uni and start being creative none stop. challenge accepted.
today i went to fred aldous to look at their archive, it was amazing. i'm not sure whether i am allowed to upload pictures due to copyright, once i have found out whether we can or not, i will post some of the photographs i took today. it's spurred me on to start this project :D
“”Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. Better by far to be good and courageous and bold and to make difference. Not change the world exactly, but the bit around you. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.”—David Nicholls - One Day
